PANEL 3 WELCOME TO FORMOSA

A majority of limestone comes from shallow seas. That’s right! Central Texas was covered in shallow seas during the Mesozoic era. During that time, sea creatures would sink to the sea floor once they died. Eventually, only their calcium rich shells or skeletons would remain, making up the limestone we use today!

Limestone is the parent rock of the marble that Elisabet Ney used for her sculptures! When limestone is exposed to high heat and pressure, such as a continental collision, the minerals that make up it’s structure grow larger and fuse together creating marble.
